I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology from Regent University, and a master's degree in counseling from Sam Houston State University. I was trained to teach ESL by the International Learning Center in 1999, and was later certified by ITTT (International TEFL and TESOL Training).
Experience
I teach because I enjoy it so much! I have over 10 years of experience teaching ESL to students from all over the world in countries like Azerbaijan, India, and Afghanistan. My students now use their English skills at work, at school, at home, and in the community with a high level of success. My specialty is helping students gain the score they need on the TOEFL exam. I especially love making the lesson come alive! Learning should never be boring. My goal is to encourage my students and to teach in a way that fits their learning style. My values are excellence, integrity, encouragement, and imagination. A good lesson involves creativity, laughter, mistakes, lots of practice, deep thinking, and fun. Hobbies
I love nature and beauty, and I spend as much time outdoors as possible. I also love languages, and speak five of them - Azerbaijani, Dari, Turkish, and a little Russian in addition to my native language, English; but I only allow English during lessons! I love art and creativity and humor. Of course, my favorite thing of all is to spend time with my 6-month-old niece, Charlotte!
